“I don’t go west of La Brea,” or so the saying goes for Westsiders. Though, of course, if you happen to be on Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s invite list, you make an exception. And you drive and drive until you’re in a converted brewery downtown. But if you happen to be an Eastsider, you carpool with Kim Gordon, Gia Coppola, Lily Moffett, and Nathalie Love because it’s just around the corner.
After a season of big Fashion Week and Oscars events, a nice small dinner at Alphaeus Taylor and Elliott Hundley’s loft was a breath of fresh air—and a great introduction for some recent arrivals, like Annie Clark, a new L.A. homeowner, and Jemima Kirke, who is spending a few months here. Dakota Fanning hosted the delicious dinner cooked by chef Corina Weibel of Canelé to celebrate Kate and Laura and their Rodarte collaboration with & Other Stories. The designs were sported at the table by Katy Perry, Miranda July, Riley Keough, Bella Heathcote, and others.
David Rodgers designed a table inspired by the desk in Yves Saint Laurent’s studio which went clear from one corner of the loft to the other, and beautiful flowers of all different colors by Joseph Free ran down the center. The flowers weren’t the only color in the room—on the walls were Hundley’s collages, sculptures, paintings, and photographs of close friends. Hundley describes his own work as being “imaginary operas” and says it’s important to him to include his friends and family in his images. Well, maybe this dinner was just a casting for his future muses. (Article By Vogue)
